Two organisations, one goal

What the program sets out to do, and who stands behind it.

The Program

Launched in 2018, the Legrand Empowering Scholarship Program provides access to higher education for meritorious girl students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 2022, support has extended to differently abled students and LGBTQ+ students.

Through financial assistance, the program reduces barriers to education continuity, encourages diversity and inclusion, and empowers deserving students to complete their higher education.

The scholarship benefit continues until the end of the course, subject to the student's academic performance each year.

Eligibility criteria

Two categories, two sets of requirements

Academic thresholds differ by category. Family income and citizenship requirements apply to both.

General category

Meritorious girl students

  • Class 10 & 12: Minimum 80% marks in both
  • Admission: Secured in the first year of an eligible undergraduate program
Special category

PwD, LGBTQ+, single mothers, Covid-affected parent

  • Class 10 & 12: Minimum 70% marks in both
  • Admission: Secured in the first year of an eligible undergraduate program
Applies to both categories: Annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹5,00,000. Open to students with Indian citizenship, PAN India.

The scholarship may be cancelled if false information is provided, and funds must be used only for educational purposes.

Group Legrand India reserves the right to modify or withdraw the scholarship under exceptional circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

Selected students submit current annual documents each year for verification and disbursement: the current annual fee structure, current fee receipt or bonafide certificate, previous year's marksheet, bank passbook, and a declaration letter.
Yes, the program is open PAN India.
Only academic fees are covered, including tuition, books, examination fees, study material, and other approved educational expenses. Transportation, hostel, mess fees and other reimbursable costs are not covered.
